What conditions are required to register for civil servant recruitment from July 2026

Article 19 of the 2025 Law on Civil Servants (effective from July 1, 2026) stipulates the conditions for registering for civil servant recruitment as follows:

1. People who meet the following conditions are eligible to register for civil servant recruitment:

a) Having 01 Vietnamese nationality according to the provisions of the Law on Nationality;

b) Currently residing in Vietnam;

c) Being 18 years of age or older, except as prescribed by law on industries and fields for special industries and occupations;

d) Having registered for the exam;

d) Have good political and moral qualities; have a clear background;

e) Being healthy enough to perform tasks;

g) Meeting the conditions required by the job position applied for;

h) Meeting other standards and conditions according to the provisions of law on professional activities.

2. People who register to apply for the position of management civil servant, in addition to meeting the conditions specified in Clause 1 of this Article, must also meet the standards and conditions for appointment as prescribed, except for cases implemented according to decisions of competent authorities.

3. The following people are not allowed to register for civil servant recruitment:

a) Loss or limited civil act capacity; people who have difficulty in perceiving and controlling their actions;

b) Being prosecuted for criminal liability; being in compliance with or having completed the execution of a judgment or decision on criminal matters of the Court that has not been expunged from criminal record; being in compliance with administrative handling measures at a compulsory detoxification facility or a compulsory education facility;

c) Being in one of the cases not allowed to register for civil servant recruitment according to the provisions of law on professional activities.

Thus, from July 1, 2026, to register for civil servant recruitment, it is necessary to meet the above conditions.
