Riding a motorbike in the wrong direction can be fined up to 14 million VND

Clause 10, Article 7, Decree 168/2024/ND-CP (effective from January 1, 2025) stipulates penalties and deduction of driving license points for drivers of motorbikes, mopeds, and similar vehicles to motorbikes and similar vehicles to mopeds who violate road traffic regulations: Fines from VND 10,000,000 to VND 14,000,000 for drivers who commit one of the following violations:

a) Driving a vehicle without observing, slowing down or stopping to ensure safety as prescribed, causing a traffic accident; driving a vehicle at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed, causing a traffic accident; entering a highway, stopping, parking, turning, reversing, overtaking, changing direction or changing lanes in violation of regulations, causing a traffic accident; not driving in the correct part of the road or lane, not keeping a safe distance between two vehicles as prescribed, causing a traffic accident, or entering a road with a sign prohibiting entry for the type of vehicle being driven, driving in the opposite direction of a one-way road, or driving in the opposite direction on a road with a sign "No entry" causing a traffic accident;

b) Violating the provisions in one of the following points and clauses of this Article and causing a traffic accident: Point a, Point d, Point dd, Point g, Point h, Point i, Point k Clause 1; Point c, Point dd, Point g Clause 2; Point b, Point e, Point g, Point h, Point k Clause 3; Point dd Clause 4; Point c, Point d Clause 6; Point c, Point d, Point dd Clause 7; Point a, Point b, Point h, Point k Clause 9 of this Article.

Thus, motorcyclists who enter a road with a sign prohibiting entry to the type of vehicle being driven, drive in the wrong direction on a one-way road, or drive in the wrong direction on a road with a sign "No entry" causing a traffic accident will be fined up to 14,000,000 VND.
