Traffic police's sanctioning authority from July 2025

The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

Clause 1, Article 8 of Decree 189/2025/ND-CP detailing the Law on Handling of Administrative Violations on the authority to sanction administrative violations (effective from July 1, 2025) stipulates that People's Public Security soldiers on active duty have the right to:

a) Warning fine;

b) Fine up to 10% of the maximum fine for the corresponding field as prescribed in Article 24 of the Law on Handling of Administrative Violations;

c) Confiscation of exhibits and means of administrative violation with a value not exceeding 02 times the fine prescribed in Point b of this Clause.

Thus, from July 1, 2025, the Traffic Police on duty have the right to impose the above penalty.
