Early implementation of the Law on Teachers, improving the status of teachers
The Ministry of Education and Training recently held a conference to summarize the process of developing and promulgating the Law on Teachers. The law was passed by the 15th National Assembly on June 16, 2025 with a approval rate of 94.35% and took effect from January 1, 2026. This is the first time Vietnam has had its own law that fully regulates the position, role, rights, obligations and policies for teachers.

The Law on Teachers consists of 9 chapters and 42 articles, with highlights such as: affirming the position of the teaching profession; ranking teachers' salaries as the highest in the administrative and career system; treatment and attraction policies; standardizing the team and increasing autonomy for educational institutions. Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized that the law is a sharp tool to develop the teaching force.
Dr. Pham Do Nhat Tien - a person involved in the law making, highly appreciated the leadership role of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Committee for Culture and Education, and noted that the implementation of the Law on Teachers in practice will be much more difficult and complicated than the development process. University admission scores are expected to decrease
The scores of the 2025 high school graduation exam show strong differentiation in most subjects, the average score of many subjects decreases sharply. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao - Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training assessed that universities have quality admission sources, are segmented and ensure harmony, nature, and reasonableness. Hanoi considers a roadmap for supporting meals for post- primary school levels
Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan and delegates of the City People's Council, Election Committee No. 2 (Hoan Kiem, Cua Nam, Hong Ha wards) met with voters after the 25th session of the City People's Council, term 2021 - 2026. In particular, voters proposed a two-level government model, proposing to fight counterfeit goods, improve the quality of education, healthcare, social security, etc.
Or voters of Hong Ha ward proposed to build a new headquarters to facilitate receiving people; Cua Nam ward proposed to speed up connection and sharing of land data to serve the settlement of administrative procedures. Not changing the names of 2 specialized schools in Bac Ninh after the merger
The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province issued a decision to keep the traditional names of Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted and Bac Giang High School for the Gifted after merging the administrative boundaries between the two former provinces. Previously, in early July, information about the decision to rename the two schools to Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted No. 1 and No. 2 caused a wave of protests from students, alumni and parents.
In response to the above responses, Mr. Ta Viet Hung - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Ninh province said that the decision to keep the old name is to protect the brand, unique identity and stability. The change of school name is considered based on social psychological factors, opinions of parents, students, teachers as well as the historical traditions of each school.
The leaders of the education sector affirmed that keeping the old school's name is a way to respect the educational culture built through many generations, avoiding disruption in the psychology of students, teachers and the local community after the administrative merger. See more...
