Continuing to participate in a music TV show after 10 years since Vietnam Idol, what does this experience mean to you?
- What I feel most clearly is national pride. I cried a lot when singing "Mother loves me" and felt happy to sing songs with traditional materials. When I met the "talents", I was so comfortable that I could not think about any pressure. I get to be myself.
After the show, I also had the opportunity to form a small group with Cuong Seven and I had many close friends such as Lien Binh Phat, BB Tran, Tien Luat...
Looking back on his artistic journey since Vietnam Idol 2015 until now, how has Trong Hieu seen himself change?
- I'm much stronger now. Before, people called me Western, but now, I am Vietnamese. It took me 10 years to learn and understand, to prove to everyone that I am a Vietnamese artist. With Vietnam Idol, I compete for myself, and Call Me by Fire is where I share my love, bringing positive energy. My goal when standing on stage is to contribute to the audience, not just for myself.
I also enjoy performing in a group. At that time, the energy of the whole group will blend. With my own product, I want to share with the audience my own emotions and worldview. I hope the scratches in my heart can be conveyed through music and heal the scratches of listeners.
Many artists with their own artistic ego will find it difficult to integrate into the group. The "talents" also mentioned small incidents and controversies when working in groups. With (S) TRONG Trong Hieu, a singer who has been working abroad for many years, does it make it difficult for him to express himself?
- I encountered many difficulties. When I perform alone, I will do everything by myself. But when participating in the program, I need to share the spotlight with others. I believe that when thinking more collectively, everyone will be happy. In fact, the working environment in Vietnam and Germany is very different. However, wherever I go, I need to learn, adapt, and change to pursue my passion.
In the program and concert nights, (S) TRONG Trong Hieu was always deeply moved when singing "Ba tell con nghe". For the singer, what role do his family and father play in his career?
- When I was young, I always wished to grow up to go far, to seek freedom. Sometimes I was so busy at work that I forgot to call my parents. When I looked back, I realized that I could not spend much time with my parents. I always want to express my affection for my family every day, maybe with simple words like I love you, I dont let you cook with anything, Im going out with you.
At the age of over 30, what do you define happiness as?
- For me, happiness is being able to enjoy every moment, being grateful for small things. I have health, I have a house to live in, a loving family and friends, I have support from the audience, I have standing on a singing stage... those simple things make me happy. I loved the feeling of being able to perform, then went down to shake hands and greet the audience. Some of them are acquaintances, some are first-time acquaintances.
I don't care about material things, because I think that when I look back at the past, I don't care if I have a big house or a huge fortune, I only remember those who have accompanied me, wonderful memories.
