Dak Lak focuses on developing sports and preserving traditional sports

Dak Lak - Provincial functional agencies are focusing on developing physical education and sports, preserving and maintaining traditional exam subjects.

On August 26, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province said that the locality had just held the opening ceremony of the 1st Dak Lak Provincial Sports Festival in 2026.

This Games organizes competitions in 18 sports. To date, the Organizing Committee has completed 13 sports, with the participation of 3,226 athletes, competing for 192 sets of medals.

The event is organized in 2 phases. Phase 1 takes place from November 1, 2025 to July 1, 2026, organizing competitions in 13 sports, including: Traditional martial arts; karate; taekwondo; 7-a-side men's football; men's futsal football; badminton; table tennis; swimming; men's and women's volleyball; billiards; Chinese chess; chess and cross country.

Phase 2 takes place from August 15 to August 30, 2026, organizing 5 sports including: Vovinam, athletics, crossbow shooting - cannon shooting, stick pushing and tug-of-war. These are sports that take place before and after the provincial-level opening ceremony.

Mr. Y Nhuan Bya, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, said that in recent years, the sports movement in the province has had strong development, spreading widely from urban to rural, mountainous, ethnic minority and coastal areas.

According to Mr. Y Nhuan Bya, the Congress is an opportunity to comprehensively assess the results of sports career development of the province in the period 2022 - 2026; and at the same time promote the movement of physical training among cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, armed forces and people from all walks of life, with the spirit of "Dak Lak Sports - Solidarity - Development".

The Games are also an environment for athletes to exchange, learn, and improve their professional qualifications and competition experience; thereby selecting outstanding athletes to participate in the 2026 National Sports Games. This is also a milestone showing the determination to build a comprehensively developed physical education and sports, taking mass sports as the foundation and high-performance sports as the driving force.

In the coming time, the province will also pay attention to preserving and promoting traditional sports of ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands and coastal areas; strengthening the application of science and digital transformation in management and organization of sports activities, aiming to improve the stature, physical strength and quality of human resources in the new period.
