The Asian Olympic Council (OCA) and the host Japanese Organizing Committee have added 2 sports, padel and teqball, to the official ASIAD 20 competition program. Thus, this Games will have 43 official sports instead of 41 as initially announced.
The list of sports of ASIAD 20 includes: Aquatics (swimming, artistic swimming, diving, water polo), archery, athletics, badminton, softball, baseball, basketball, boxing, breaking jumping, canoeing, sparring martial arts (jujitsu, kurash, MMA), cricket (T20), cycling, horse racing, e-sports, fencing, football, golf, gymnastics, handball, hockey, judo, kabaddi, karate, 5 modern sports – pentathlon, rowing, rugby (7 people), sailing, sepak takraw, shooting, skateboarding, mountain climbing, squash, surfing, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, wushu, padel, teqball.
The Organizing Committee held a Television Conference on May 21st. It is expected that 28 sports will have live television signals produced during ASIAD 20.
In which, 10 sports are conducted with all competition commentary in English. ASIAD 20 will sell television rights to units that need to own them.
ASIAD 20 will open on September 19 and close on October 4. OCA and the host Organizing Committee of Japan have announced that the ASIAD 20 torch relay program will be held from August 22 to September 18 in locations in Japan.
The final journey of the ASIAD 20 torch will stop in Nagoya city before arriving at the opening ceremony of the Games.
