In just a few hours, the owner of the prestigious golden statue in the Best Leading Actress race will be revealed. Among the nomination cast gathering many outstanding faces, Emma Stone continues to be a noteworthy name when returning to the race with rich experience, having twice touched the gold cup thanks to classic roles in "La La Land" and "Poor Things".
Returning to the screen in 2025, Emma Stone continues to try her hand at a challenging role in "Bugonia" directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, owner of the "Poor Things" film that won the Golden Lion at the 80th Venice Film Festival (2023).

Bugonia" revolves around Teddy, a man obsessed with conspiracy theory, who together with his cousin kidnaps Michelle, the female CEO of a pharmaceutical corporation, believing that she is an alien from Andromeda secretly destroying Earth. The film is an English remake of "Save the Green Planet!" released in 2003 by Jang Joon-hwan, adapted with the satirical and bizarre features characteristic of director Yorgos Lanthimos.
The character Emma portrayed has an unpredictable, illogical and bizarre color, not following the familiar rut, but with sophisticated and experienced acting, she still creates a unique attraction for "Bugonia" to the audience.
For many years, Emma Stone has been considered one of the Hollywood actresses with a very sophisticated choice of scripts and characters. It is her sensitivity in shaping roles that not only helps her maintain her appeal on screen but also regularly brings her name to major awards seasons.
Previously, according to the Hollywood Reporter film magazine, Emma Stone had just broken several records when she received two Oscar 2026 nominations for "Best picture for producing" and "Best actress for starring" in "Bugonia".
At the age of 37, Emma Stone became the youngest actress in Oscar history to reach the milestone of 7 nominations in her career. Before Emma, only Walt Disney, then only 34 years old, reached the number of 7 nominations in 1936 and the previous record for women belonged to Meryl Streep, who received her seventh Oscar nomination at the age of 38 in 1988.
Besides, Emma Stone also repeatedly made her mark at the Oscars as the first actress to be nominated twice in both roles as actress and producer in the same film.
In her career, she has won two prestigious Oscars for Best Actress for her roles in "La La Land" (2017) and "Poor Things" (2024), and also received additional nominations for Best Supporting Actress for "The Favourite" (2019).
This achievement puts her in the list of the rare Hollywood actresses who own more than one Oscar statuette for acting, when in Oscar history only three actresses have won three or more female lead statuettes: Katharine Hepburn (4 times), along with Frances McDormand and Meryl Streep (3 times).
Although "Bugonia" achieved relatively stable revenue of more than 43 million USD worldwide thanks to the stable performance of actress Emma Stone, the final predicted result of this category is still a variable, with the appearance of many bright faces such as Renate Reinsve, Kate Hudson and Rose Byrne. Especially the "heavyweight" candidate, actress Jessie Buckley and her emotional performance in Hamnet.
