crazy fans are recommended to be sentenced to 10 months in prison for assault and theft at NewJeans dormitory

A crazy fan illegally entered a NewJeans dormitory and stole personal belongings, and was brought to trial.

On June 11, Korean time, the Criminal Court No. 9 of the Western District of Seoul (ided by Judge Kim Min Jeong) held a trial for defendant A, who faced charges of assault and theft. The prosecutors have requested a 10-month prison sentence.

A was discovered to have illegally entered NewJeans' residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on December 18 last year.

When he discovered the door open, A returned on December 21, 2024 and stole belongings including hangers and banners. A also filmed the dormitory and downloaded the scene online. At that time, the residence was deserted because NewJeans left there earlier that month after announcing the termination of their contract with ADOR.

A's legal representative admitted all the allegations, stating: "The defendant deserves criticism. However, A has regretted and fully cooperated with the investigation."

The lawyer also emphasized that this was the first time the defendant had committed a crime, and added: "With A's usual behavior, the risk of reoffending is low. A did not believe that taking the items after the group moved out would constitute theft."

During the trial, A bowed his head and read a pre-prepared note: "I made a terrible mistake due to a reckless decision. I would like to apologize to the artist I admire and the agency for causing pain."

A shared that he had written a daily reflection letter and prayed: "Please give me a chance to pursue my dream of becoming a civil servant. I will live responsibly while taking care of my sick mother".
