On the afternoon of November 22, the second day of the 2024 MAMA music awards ceremony took place at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. Previously, the first day was held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, USA.
Day 2 of this year's MAMA is especially interesting to Kpop fans, because the list of performing artists includes the famous duo that is causing a global fever with the song "APT." - Rose (Blackpink) and Bruno Mars.
This is the first time American pop star Bruno Mars has attended a Korean music awards ceremony.
Although Rose is a Kpop artist, this is her first time attending MAMA. In the past 8 years, the group Blackpink has never appeared at this award ceremony.
At around 4pm, Rose and Bruno Mars arrived in the guest seats. The 27-year-old singer wore a black dress and an elegant vest, while the 39-year-old singer looked dapper in a shirt and trousers, paired with a white coat.
Rose looked shy when the camera zoomed in on both of their faces. In a behind-the-scenes video, the K-pop idols all looked curious and surprised when Bruno Mars and Rose came to their seats.
At this year's MAMA, Rose's song "APT." was not nominated for any major categories, because the organizers stipulated that to be eligible for nomination, the musical work must be released between October 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024.
“APT.” is set to premiere on October 18, 2024, so it’s likely to be nominated next year.
However, around 6pm, MAMA unexpectedly awarded a secondary award to Rose and Bruno Mars, which was the Global Sensation award.
