The High People's Court in Ho Chi Minh City reopened the appellate trial of the inheritance dispute of late artist Vu Linh between the plaintiff, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Nhung, and the defendant, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan, on the afternoon of June 23.
According to information announced by the court at the trial, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan sent a request to postpone the trial with a confirmation of hospitalization at a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. This is the basis provided by the defendant to explain the inability to attend the appellate trial according to the court's summons.
After considering the file and related documents, the representative of the People's Procuracy participating in the trial determined that the reason for Ms. Hong Loan's absence was legitimate, and at the same time requested the Trial Panel to accept the defendant's request to postpone the trial.
Based on the opinions of the representative of the Procuracy and the supplemented documents, the Trial Panel decided to postpone the second appellate hearing and will set the time to reopen the court session at another time according to the provisions of law.

Previously, from the beginning of the afternoon of June 23, quite a few interested people gathered outside the courtroom area to wait for new developments in the long-standing heritage dispute.
Reporters' records show that security forces were strengthened to ensure security and order in the court area. Ms. Hong Nhung and her daughter's family, Ms. Hong Phuong, and artist Tieu Linh (Ms. Hong Nhung's younger brother, and also the younger brother of the late artist Vu Linh) appeared at the court early. Artist Tieu Linh was supported by relatives to move in a wheelchair into the courtyard.
Previously, the appellate hearing was opened in April 2026 but was later postponed to supplement documents and evidence and due to the absence of a representative of Cau Kieu Ward People's Committee, Ho Chi Minh City - a unit with related rights and obligations in the case.
According to the first-instance judgment of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan was identified as the legal adopted daughter of the late artist Vu Linh and belonged to the first line of inheritance. The court declared that Ms. Hong Loan enjoyed 85% of the inheritance value, while Ms. Vo Thi Hong Nhung enjoyed 15% of the inheritance value due to her efforts in managing, preserving and restoring the assets of artist Vu Linh.
Disagreeing with the first-instance verdict, the parties appealed and brought the case to the appellate level.
