According to reporters' records at the court, from the beginning of the afternoon, many people were present outside the courtroom area to follow the developments of the incident. Security forces were strengthened to ensure security and order in the face of a fairly large concentration of people.
Notably, Ms. Hong Phuong's family - Ms. Vo Thi Hong Nhung's daughter - was present at the court early. Hong Phuong appeared with relatives, including her biological mother, artist Hong Nhung, and artist Tieu Linh (Ms. Hong Nhung's younger brother and artist Vu Linh's younger brother) who were supported by family members to move in wheelchairs to the courtyard.
The appearance of Hong Phuong's family quickly attracted the attention of a large number of followers.
Meanwhile, until nearly 2 pm on June 23, when the trial was about to begin, Ms. Hong Loan's side had not yet appeared in court.

Previously, the appellate trial was opened but had to be temporarily postponed to supplement some related documents and evidence and was absent from the presence of representatives of Cau Kieu Ward People's Committee, Ho Chi Minh City.
The case received great public attention because it is related to the heritage of the late artist Vu Linh and the long-standing dispute between the parties.

According to the previous first-instance judgment, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court partially accepted the lawsuit request of Ms. Vo Thi Hong Nhung. The Trial Panel determined that Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan was the legal adopted daughter of late artist Vu Linh and belonged to the first line of inheritance according to legal regulations.
The first-instance court ruled that Ms. Hong Loan was entitled to 85% of the value of the inheritance of the late artist Vu Linh. Ms. Vo Thi Hong Nhung was entitled to 15% of the value of the inheritance due to her efforts in managing, preserving and restoring the property for a long time.
Disagreeing with this ruling, the related parties appealed, bringing the case to the appellate level to reconsider the entire content of the dispute.
