Strengthening international cooperation
Vietnam strives to expand international cooperation to attract foreign visitors and promote tourism to the world. In recent times, Vietnam has strengthened tourism cooperation through cultural and sports exchanges with many countries.
Korea is a key market, with nearly 4.6 million visitors to Vietnam in 2024, an increase of 25% compared to the previous year. In contrast, more than 500,000 Vietnamese visitors have arrived in Korea, showing the increasingly strong bilateral tourism relationship.
In particular, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries has created favorable conditions to enhance cooperation in many fields, including tourism. Open visa policies, the expansion of connecting routes, along with the participation of Korean investors in the tourism service sector in Vietnam have contributed to promoting two-way tourism growth.
Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh commented that Vietnamese people love to travel to Korea to sightsee, shop, spend a lot, love Korean culture, especially through movies as well as cultural exchange programs...
Ms. Park Eun Jung - Chief Representative of the Office of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in Vietnam - said that Korean tourists really like Sa Pa, Ha Long, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Phu Quoc.
In the period of 2025 - 2026, the Korean tourism industry expects to cooperate with the Vietnamese tourism industry to implement cooperation activities to develop tourism, promote and promote more exchanges of visitors. At the same time, the Korean side hopes that Vietnamese airlines will increase flight frequency as well as exploit more new routes to Korea.
In order to effectively exploit the potential of Vietnamese tourists to Korea, the National Administration of Tourism proposed to establish a tourism working group to promptly remove obstacles, creating favorable conditions for businesses of both sides to exchange visitors.
Expanding connections
Thailand is also an important partner of Vietnam in the tourism sector. In recent times, Thailand has wanted to promote cooperation in economic and tourism areas, connect and implement the program "6 countries, 1 destination".
This initiative focuses on expanding tourism connectivity between the six countries of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand.
Referring to the aspect of tourism cooperation at the meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya proposed studying the possibility of applying common visas for the region, developing joint tourism promotion programs, key tourist seasons and enhancing traffic infrastructure connectivity (road, rail).
Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh expressed his support for these proposals and hoped that the joint tourism promotion programs between the two countries would create opportunities for tourists from third countries to easily explore the beauty and cultural diversity of both Vietnam and Thailand.
The Permanent Deputy Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is ready to coordinate, support and create favorable conditions for cooperation activities between the two sides in the fields of culture, sports and tourism to become increasingly in-depth and effective, contributing to further strengthening and developing the good friendship between Vietnam and Thailand.
Sustainable development cooperation
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in collaboration with the Swiss Development Cooperation Agency and the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam organized the Launching Ceremony of the Project "Switzerland Tourism for Sustainable Development in Vietnam".
The project supports localities in enhancing public-private cooperation and promoting sustainable tourism transformation.
