The People's Committee of Kien Giang province has just issued Plan No. 311 on implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee on building and developing Kien Giang culture and people to meet the requirements of rapid, harmonious and sustainable development.
The Provincial People's Committee requested to propose specific and practical tasks and solutions to create strong changes in building and developing culture and people, synchronous development between economy and culture, meeting the requirements of rapid, harmonious and sustainable development of the country and locality.
By 2025, the province strives to have 80% of the population enjoying and participating in cultural activities, preserving and promoting traditional cultural values. Investing in the construction of major cultural works of the province such as the cultural works symbolizing national sovereignty over seas and islands in the Southwest sea in Tho Chau commune, Phu Quoc city. 100% of industrial zones and clusters have land funds to build cultural and sports facilities and organize and participate in cultural and sports activities to serve workers and laborers. Re-enact 1-2 traditional festivals of the nation. Expand the scale of organizing some typical festivals of the province.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Sau - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang province - said: Kien Giang currently has many unique festivals, of which the Nguyen Trung Truc Festival annually attracts a large number of domestic and foreign tourists. Previously, on October 10, 2023, Kien Giang held a ceremony to receive the National Intangible Cultural Heritage certificate "Nguyen Trung Truc Communal House Festival - Rach Gia city, Kien Giang province".
Mr. Sau also said that Kien Giang is upgrading the festival, strengthening management, renovation, and restoration work... to strive to turn the Nguyen Trung Truc Tomb and Communal House Historical and Cultural Relic into a special National Relic in the near future.
According to the plan of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province, relevant units need to study and organize and maintain festival-like activities suitable to the province's conditions regarding traditional occupations related to the sea, Phu Quoc fish sauce annually on a large scale, high quality, worthy of the Mekong Delta region and coastal provinces and cities nationwide. Organize a variety of cultural, artistic, physical education and sports movements, especially in remote, border, island and ethnic minority areas. Continue to narrow the gap in cultural enjoyment between urban and rural areas, remote, border, island and between social classes.
Research and orient the construction of potential cultural industry development models associated with promoting the image of Kien Giang land and people, contributing to protecting and promoting local and national cultural identities in the process of international exchange, integration and cooperation, aiming to develop tourism and socio-economy of the province.
Annually, maintain the organization of typical traditional festivals of the province and cultural and sports events and festivals associated with tourism development. Effectively link cultural and sports activities and services with sustainable tourism development. Promote investment calling for strong development of cultural industry, night-time economy development in key areas such as: Phu Quoc City, Rach Gia, Ha Tien and other places with conditions.
