On the morning of December 17, Xoi Thanh Newspaper held a book launching ceremony "The miracle of 3,000km of highway" to help readers look back on the challenging but glorious journey of the process of investing and developing the highway system in Vietnam in the recent period.
Speaking at the book launching ceremony, Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Construction, said that 2025 is the final year of the 2021-2025 term - the period when the Party and State have identified investment in infrastructure development as one of the strategic breakthroughs to promote socio-economic growth.
The Transport sector is assigned to carry out many key national projects, in which the goal of realizing 3,000km of expressway is set in the context of many unprecedented fluctuations and challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, limitations in resources, fluctuations in prices of materials, construction materials and the impact of climate change.
However, under the leadership of the Party and State; the supervision of the National Assembly; the strong direction of the Government and the Prime Minister; with the synchronous participation of ministries, branches, localities and the consensus and support of people in the project areas, the difficulties were gradually resolved. Investors and contractors have worked day and night, "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain" to bring the expressway projects to the finish line on schedule.
According to Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan, by the end of 2025, the whole country will have 3,000km of expressway put into operation, marking an important milestone in the development of national transport infrastructure. This is not only a result in quantity, but also contributes to the formation of a synchronous and interconnected strategic infrastructure network, improving national competitiveness, expanding regional and international connectivity, increasingly better serving the travel and trade needs of people and businesses.
More than numbers, the 3,000km journey of the expressway is a revolution in project management and implementation, a process of fostering the will, courage and aspirations of the Vietnamese people, the Deputy Minister emphasized.
The representative of the Ministry of Construction said that the task ahead is very big. To achieve the goal of 5,000km of expressway in the next 5 years, the whole industry needs to complete nearly 2,000km of new expressway, requiring management agencies, investors, and construction enterprises to continue to accumulate experience, improve capacity and strengthen linkages to conquer new challenges.
The miracle of 3,000km of expressway is not only a miracle in scale, but also a miracle of the consensus and determination of the entire political system and people. Within just 5 years, more than 1,800km of expressway were put into operation, a figure far exceeding the total length of expressways built nearly 20 years ago.
Launched in this context, the book The Relic of 3,000km of Expressway is not only a document summarizing the process of developing transport infrastructure, but also a gratitude to the pioneers, investors, engineers, and workers who have persistently worked on arduous, challenging, but proud construction sites.
The book is expected to become a valuable document, preserving the continuous efforts of the Party, National Assembly, Government, ministries, branches, localities, businesses and people in the journey to create an infrastructure foundation for the sustainable development of the country.
