The 74th Miss Universe 2025 contest held in Thailand is becoming the focus of criticism from the global public when it was continuously involved in a series of scandals about organization, transparency and handling of contestants.
From the "illegal" dinner event, to the fierce conflict between the Miss Universe Organization and the Miss Universe Thailand organization...
The incident started with Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, President of Miss Universe Thailand as the organizer of the Miss Universe 2025 contest, having a dinner with the top 10 through the audience's voting.
After that, on November 3, MUO issued a notice stating that the activity was not officially licensed.
Immediately after MUO's statement, the MUT organization immediately reacted, saying that this event was part of the communication and experience package for contestants, which had been promoted before.
However, MUO denied it, saying that the Thai partner arbitrarily organized it without going through an official organization.
The tensions escalated when the MUT organization said it had reported to the Thai police because it thought that MUO was advertising illegal gambling cards at the contest, while MUO affirmed that it would consider taking legal action against any unit that illegally used the name, logo and brand of Miss Universe.
On November 4, MUO President Raul Rocha Cantu issued an official statement on Instagram, confirming the complete cancellation of the Special Dinner & talk Show event - where the 10 contestants were chosen to have dinner with Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, President of Miss Universe Thailand.
He emphasized: We will not allow the image or identity of any contestant to be exploited in any form. At Miss Universe, your dignity, integrity and mental health are top priorities."

The removal of dinner and chat activities is considered a disadvantage for Huong Giang. Because before that, this beauty was in the top 10 with the highest votes to participate in the meal with Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, President of Miss Universe Thailand and the contest sponsors.
At this activity, Huong Giang can impress the contest organizers and sponsoring brands. However, the removal not only takes effort in the voting of fans but also lacks the opportunity for the Vietnamese representative to express themselves to the organizers.
In that context, Mr. Raul Rocha Cantu also announced 4 official rounds of the contest including: closed interview, performance of national costumes, swimsuit and evening gown. He affirmed that only the results of these 4 categories will be used for scoring, completely eliminating the possibility of "favoring candidates" through sideline activities.
However, the reaction wave has not stopped. The audience discovered that the official fanpage of Miss Universe (more than 14 million followers) rarely posted photos of Asian contestants, including the representative of Vietnam - Miss Huong Giang. Since she went to Thailand to compete officially, MUO has not posted an introduction about her.
On the contrary, representatives from Latin America such as Mexico, Venezuela or Colombia were posted continuously, causing the Asian beauty community to be upset, simultaneously releasing angry iconos and demanding explanations.
Amid the controversy, MUO affirmed that the competition is still taking place on schedule and the results will be guaranteed to be absolutely fair. However, many viewers believe that Miss Universe 2025 is going through the "greatest media crisis" in the history of the contest, when both internal conflicts, suspicions of commercialization and regional unfairness broke out at the same time.
