Art subjects seek innovation
After implementing the Cultural Industry Development Strategy, Vietnam has recorded many outstanding achievements such as films with hundreds of billions in revenue, music shows, and live scenes that attract audiences. In the context of globalization, cultural industry plays a key role in promoting national identity.
In recent years, theaters and art units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have undergone many changes, not only preserving art but also developing and spreading widely. For example, the Vietnam Circus Federation has proposed many breakthrough ideas, built more than 20 unique programs, and recorded a significant increase in revenue in 2024 compared to 2023.
Speaking to Lao Dong reporter, People's Artist Tong Toan Thang - Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation - affirmed that circus is not simply a physical sport but has now integrated emotional elements.
"The circus department has begun to change to affect the audience's emotions. Circus plays are staged to recreate history, combining many art forms that can touch the hearts of viewers. If you search for the keyword circus on Facebook, TikTok, you can see many young people updating and following our shows. Hundreds of young people have registered to volunteer and work as communication workers for the circus union activities.
The price of 150,000 VND for 1 play can be easily approached by the audience, much lower than some other forms of entertainment. We incorporated many diverse contents, such as stories about war invalids, about the nation's long-term resistance war. Through the circus, we hope the audience understands history and arouses patriotism.
On digital platforms, content about the Vietnam Cheo Theater with the play "Quan Am Thi Kinh" reached hundreds of thousands of views. Through the "gen Z" communication of content creators, Cheo has become closer, more familiar, and attractive to young people.
On the occasion of April 30, the Vietnam Dance and Drama Theater will organize the program "Union Spring" in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, but will not use the usual 3D Mapping technology but will build it in the form of an epic stage combined with contemporary dance.
Towards cultural international development
In April and May, more than 1,500 artists from 12 art institutions will perform across the country, contributing to preserving and promoting traditional art, while promoting Vietnamese tourism and culture to domestic and foreign tourists.
The transformation of traditional arts comes not only from innovation but also spreads thanks to special combinations.
At the press conference held on April 14, People's Artist Nguyen Xuan Bac - Director of the Department of Performing Arts said that the series of art performances to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day had the participation of veteran artists and even young stars.
People's Artist Xuan Bac mentioned the combination of political programs and singers from entertainment game shows such as Call Me by Fire, Say Hi Brother will bring a unique and novel spiritual dish, suitable for audiences of all ages.
From the success of performing arts in recent years, People's Artist Xuan Bac commented: "In the 4.0 era, art units have made many improvements and innovations in technology to serve the audience. From there, each theater and theater stage must be a cultural destination. The theaters have their own approaches and directions, but are all proud of the country's development, ready for long-term, strategic instructions.
Responding to the policy of " Internationalizing Vietnamese culture and Vietnamese international culture", the performing arts industry is striving to create works rich in ideological, expressive and entertaining values, contributing to the development of the cultural industry.
