For the first time, typical Vietnamese cinematic works, including feature films, documentaries and short films produced over 50 years since the country's reunification (April 30, 1975) will be introduced to the public in France during Vietnam Cinema Week.
Vietnam Cinema Week takes place from December 5 to 12, 2025 at Le Grand Rex Theater - the largest cinema in Europe, which is also one of the iconic cultural works of the capital Paris, France.
The event was co-organized by the Vietnam Cinema Development Promotion Association (VFDA) and AVSE Global, under the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Embassy in France.
This is the opening activity for the series of cultural programs "Vietnam - The Symphony of Love" initiated by AVSE Global, aiming to promote Vietnamese culture to the world through creative, unique, and profound forms.
According to Mr. Dinh Toan Thang, Vietnamese Ambassador to France: Vietnam Film Week in Paris is an opportunity to discuss more deeply about the development of Vietnamese cinema, seek support, and expand new connections with the French filmmaking community. Thereby aiming for stronger cooperation projects in the future, contributing to creating new impressions in the Vietnam-France cultural cooperation relationship and contributing to a better future".
The theme Vietnamese Cinema - The Journey of Light was directly chosen by Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Cinema Development Promotion Association (VFDA).
This week, the film will recreate the development journey of Vietnamese cinema from war to peace, from the Doi Moi period to the modern period, where cinema has become a flow reflecting the strong rise of the country.
The 17 typical films selected for screening are works that have been selected and won awards at major international film festivals such as Hawaii, Cannes, Busan, Berlin, Nantes... as well as high awards of Vietnam such as: When until October, Wild Fields, Apartments, Retired General, Bi Don't afraid, Children in the mist, Cu li don't ever cry, I see yellow flowers on green grass, Rain on butterfly Wings, Tro is brilliant... along with newly produced films, being a cultural - social phenomenon in Vietnam such as Red Rain, Death in the air - Premiered in Europe.

According to Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, Vietnam Cinema Week in Paris is an opportunity for international audiences to look back on the nearly half-century journey of Vietnamese cinema - a place that reflects the "light journey" of the nation: the light of peace after war, strong changes in the renovation period and the modern appearance of the country in the period of industrialization - modernization.
The stories of life, human fate and social changes expressed through rich cinematic language, from classic to modern style, from popular films to author films will create a diverse creative flow, rich in emotions and bearing the strong mark of Vietnam.
