The Tam Chuc complex and Van Long Wetlands Nature Reserve are a special heritage space, where nature, landscape and culture, and spirituality are harmoniously blended, typical of the tropical karst region.
With a system of limestone mountains, karst valleys, wetlands and interconnected water surfaces, this area still preserves the high integrity of geological, geomorphological, ecosystem and hydrological formation and construction processes, creating a unique landscape rich in scientific value.

The Tam Chuc and Van Long areas are home to the White-breasted langur population, a endemic primate of Vietnam, classified as one of the 25 most endangered primates globally.
The conservation of White-breasted langur not only has the meaning of protecting a globally endangered species, but is also an important measure reflecting the ecological integrity, management efficiency and sustainable development commitment of the Tam Chuc and Van Long mangrove karst areas according to UNESCO standards and recommendations.
On January 16, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Song Tung - Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee said that Ninh Binh province clearly defines the consistent viewpoint of ensuring harmony between preserving and promoting heritage values, protecting the environment, preserving biodiversity with sustainable socio-economic development, considering heritage as an important and long-term resource for local development.
Researching and nominating the World Heritage Site for the Tam Chuc Complex and Van Long Wetlands Nature Reserve is not only a professional task, but also a strategic content, showing the long-term development vision of Ninh Binh province in the process of building a heritage city, heritage economy and cultural industry, towards the goal of making Ninh Binh a centrally-run city by 2030" - Mr. Tung emphasized.

Also according to Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Tran Song Tung, Ninh Binh province has established a Steering Committee to build a dossier for Ninh Binh province's heritage to complete the dossier for UNESCO's nomination to recognize the Tam Chuc Complex and Van Long Wetlands Nature Reserve as world heritage in accordance with international procedures, standards and practices.
It is noteworthy that the Tam Chuc Complex and Van Long Wetlands Nature Reserve still preserve the high level of integrity of geological, geomorphological, ecological and hydrological processes. This is an important foundation for this area to be considered to meet strict criteria for world heritage, in the context that many karst spaces in the world have been fragmented or reduced in value due to human impact" - Mr. Tung said.
