Information related to the doctoral degree of People's Artist Bach Tuyet caused a stir in the public opinion because some of her doubts were "fake" or just an honor.
The reason is because some people say they cannot find the female artist's name in the list of alumni of RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art - Editor's note).
On the evening of November 28, People's Artist Bach Tuyet spoke up about two main issues: The female artist's learning process and the accompanying doctoral certificate.
According to official information from the female artist, from 1991-1995, People's Artist Bach Tuyet was accepted to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (UK).
After studying 10 subjects and achieving the required total of 124 hours of study and practice, in October 1995, artist Bach Tuyet defended her thesis "The adaptation of traditional folk theater arts of Southeast Asian countries" and was approved by the Thesis Evaluation Council.
During and after her studies, People's Artist Bach Tuyet said she reported and received attention from the Vietnamese Embassy in London.
After she completed her thesis defense, the Vietnamese Embassy in London sent a dispatch to the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, confirming that during her time in London, artist Bach Tuyet had regular contact with the embassy, conducted serious research and had a good relationship with the school.
After returning home, People's Artist Bach Tuyet sent a report on her study process and thesis defense to the Ministry of Culture and Information at that time, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Information, the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association; and sent her thesis to the General Secretary of the Theater Association at that time.
The artist representative attached evidence including:
The diploma was signed by the President of the British Academy of Dramatic Art, Nicolas Barter, recognizing the doctoral thesis of Nguyen Thi Bach Tuyet.
British Academy of Dramatic Art 124 hour 10 subject certificate.
Because she jointly defended her thesis at both the Sofia National Institute of Theatre and Film, the Institute awarded her a PhD (number 24248) on August 15, 1996 to artist Bach Tuyet.
The female artist's representative added: "The effort to study an art program at a prestigious Drama Academy abroad, for a Vietnamese artist, is nothing more than to better understand and promote the valuable assets of the reformed theater genre in particular, and national culture in general, to audiences across the country.
Also, from there we can enrich the source of creativity, renew the art of reformed opera in the true spirit of this type of Southern theater."
