People who inspire on screen
The title "national grandmother" of Ngo Ngan Xu comes not only from her kind face but also from the depth of her progressive thinking in the characters she transforms into.
In "Nghe cap hanh phuc" (aired on THVL channel), she plays Tran Thuc Tran - Dieu Chi Minh's (Hua Khai) grandmother and also the grandmother of Mach Thua Hoan (Duong Tu).
Ms. Thuc Tran is the model of a talented, sharp businesswoman who lives very emotionally. She became a guide, giving valuable advice to the younger generation, especially women. Her words to Thua Hoan became an inspiring message: "You must be determined to be independent. Only independence can expand your child's options. It's great when a person doesn't rely on others in their life."
Appearing in "Going to the Windy Place", the U90 actress transformed into Mrs. Ta - a grandmother in a simple countryside, a "love soldier" for her nephew Ta Chi Dao (Ly Hien). In contrast to the image of a successful businesswoman, Mrs. Ta is honest but her thinking is very modern.
Although in two different images, Ngo Ngan Xu's characters all have the same voice: promoting the independence, strength and courage of women, encouraging them to take control of their lives to seek happiness.

The spirit of independence despite age in real life
Not only the philosophy in the film, that positive spirit is Ngo Ngan Xu's motto in life. At nearly 90 years old, she still maintains an incredibly dynamic lifestyle. Every day, she persistently practices push-ups, performs the "flying Swallow" movement and walks about 6,000 steps.
For her, age is not a barrier. "I never thought I was old. The elderly also need to beautify themselves, at least need to dress properly," she shared.
The most venerable thing is the spirit of progress, not allowing yourself to be left behind by society. In an interview, she proudly said that she still reads the news online every day, learning how to use phone applications to book a car, plane ticket, or hotel room.
"The elderly must also be independent. In life, we must love ourselves. I have to practice my health, wear a mask, and do some makeup," she affirmed.
