The film category of this year's Baeksang Arts Awards (Korea) attracted great attention, because the nomination list featured the hit work "The king's warden" (Vietnamese title: Under the Shadow) starring Park Ji Hoon and Yoo Hae Jin.
This film previously broke the record for the highest-grossing film in Korean cinema history with more than 140 billion won (about 2,500 billion VND). At the same time, after only 67 days of screening, "The king's warden" has surpassed 16.28 million tickets, currently the 2nd highest-grossing film on the Korean box office chart.
At this year's Baeksang, "The king's warden" by director Jang Hang Jun and "No other choice" by director Park Chan Wook both lead the film category with 7 nominations each, including Best Picture, Best Director.
However, interest seems to be pouring into "The king's warden", because this work has just been released in theaters since February but has quickly become a "phenomenon". Baeksang is the first major film award that "The king's warden" has been nominated for.

Yoo Hae Jin of “The king’s warden” will compete for Best Male Lead with Koo Kyo Hwan (Once we were us), Park Jeong Min (The ugly), Lee Byung Hun (No other choice) and Hong Kyung (Good news).
Meanwhile, young actor Park Ji Hoon of "The king's warden" was nominated for Best New Actor, along with candidates Moon Sang Min (Pavane), Ahn Hyo Seop (Omniscient reader), Yoo Lee Ha (The final semester) and Cho You Hyun (3670).
In addition, the Best Actress category features Son Ye Jin (No other choice) competing against Go Ah Sung (Pavane), Moon Ga Young (Once we were us), Lee Hye Young (The old woman with the knife) and Han Ye Ri (Spring night).
The Best Supporting Actor category includes nominees Ryoo Seung Bum (Good news), Park Hae Joon (Humint), Yoo Ji Tae (The king's warden), Lee Sung Min (No other choice) and Jang Yong (People and meat).
The Best Supporting Actress category includes Shin Sae Kyeong (Humint), Shin Hyun Been (The ugly), Yeom Hye Ran (No other choice), Jang Hye Jin (The world of love) and Jeon Mi Do (The king's warden).
Meanwhile, the Best New Actress nomination includes Seo Su Bin (The world of love), Shin Sia (“Even if this love disappears from the world tonight), Shin Eun Soo (Love untangled), Chae Won Bin (Yadang: The snitch) and Choi Yu Ri (My daughter is a zombie).
The 62nd Baeksang Awards ceremony will be held on May 8 in Seoul, Korea and will be broadcast live simultaneously on JTBC, JTBC2 and JTBC4.
