After a long wait, Thong Nhat cinema - a cultural symbol associated with many generations of people in the old Hai Duong city - is gradually taking shape with a new, modern and spacious appearance. The project has now entered the final stages of completion, ready to return to public service in the near future.
Recorded in early August 2025, the front of the theater has basically taken shape. The prominent Thong Nhat Theater sign is being installed, creating an easy-to-recognize highlight on the major traffic axis Ho Chi Minh Avenue.
Inside and around the project, construction teams are still rushing to complete the interior and exterior items, while renovating the landscape to ensure the right progress and quality.
Thong Nhat Theater was built on the old theater that had existed since the 1960s. Before being invested in and built, the project managed by the old Hai Duong Provincial Center for Culture and Arts had seriously degraded, was not eligible for use and had to stop operating since 2005 to ensure safety.

The Thong Nhat cinema construction project was approved in principle by the People's Committee of the old Hai Duong province (before the merger) from the end of October 2024.
The theater has a scale of 4 floors, built on an area of 457.2 m2 with a total floor area of about 1,730 m2, the total investment capital is nearly 18 billion VND from the legal capital of the enterprise. The project is expected to be completed in the period of 2024 - 2025.
According to the original orientation, Thong Nhat Theater will not only be a modern entertainment space serving the people but also an important cultural institution, combining the political and social propaganda tasks of the old Hai Duong city.
With a prime location and harmonious design between modernity and history, the project is expected to become a unique cultural destination for locals and tourists.
