On the afternoon of March 27, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung chaired a working session with the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution to evaluate the implementation of tasks in 2025.
Attending the working session in Hanoi were Deputy Minister Phan Tam, leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and representatives of the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution.

Director Nguyen Nguyen reported that the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution is responsible for advising on state management in the field of publishing, printing and distribution.
In 2025, the Department will focus on four main areas: institution building, law enforcement organization, inspection, and support for industry development. Key tasks include: developing a revised Publishing Law, completing the state budget publishing program, organizing events such as Book Day and Reading Culture, National Book Awards, and developing e-books.
The Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution also faced some difficulties and problems in its work, and proposed solutions to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Deputy Minister Phan Tam acknowledged the achievements, but also pointed out the limitations and proposed improving legal and personnel work.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized the important contribution of the publishing industry in disseminating policies, laws and developing the socio-economy. The Minister highly appreciated the Department's efforts and requested units to better perform their tasks in the coming time.
Regarding key tasks in the coming time, the Minister suggested that the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution must give top priority to institutional improvement.
Accordingly, the Department needs to study and advise competent authorities to contribute content related to the field of publishing, printing and distribution to documents of the National Congress of the Party.
The Department needs to urgently report to competent authorities to amend the Publishing Law in the new spirit of creating development, creating space for development when the old law has been issued for more than 12 years.
In addition, the Department needs to study and propose the Government to issue a Development Strategy for the Publishing, Printing and Distribution industries to meet development requirements.
"This is an important task, the backbone of the industry that the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution needs to prioritize in the coming time," the Minister emphasized.
Second, the Minister requested to strengthen inspection and examination of units in the field of publishing, printing and distribution.
Third, the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution must compile statistics and review the entire system of publishers, printing facilities, businesses, and business households issuing books to build a basic database in this field and this database must be continuously supplemented and updated.
Fourth, the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution must proactively coordinate with relevant agencies to fight and prevent copyright infringement in the publishing sector and organize short-term training courses for a number of subjects in the management sector.
The Minister requested to promote international cooperation in the publishing sector, towards specific and long-term cooperation.
The Minister directed the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution to adjust the work plan, focus on key tasks, clearly assign responsibilities and strengthen supervision and inspection of work.
