At the regular press conference on the afternoon of July 24 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Le Quang Tu Do - Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information - said that the process of handling artists and people with influence who violate the law and violating customs by restrictive measures that are allowed to be broadcast, perform and advertise has been issued since October 2024 but cannot be implemented because it has not been institutionalized into legal regulations.
"There is currently no regulation prohibiting celebrities from violating the law from appearing in newspapers and television. We call on press agencies and performance organizers to coordinate to limit their appearances, in a voluntary spirit," said Mr. Do.
He also expressed his hope that this process will soon be institutionalized to have a basis for official implementation.
The previous pilot process was developed by the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, aiming to apply to artists and public figures who violate the law or ethical standards, strictly ethics, in the direction of limiting appearances in newspapers, social networks and promotional activities.
At the time of issuing the process, there were no specific cases for piloting. Up to now, when there are some suitable cases, problems have arisen because the inspection function of the Ministry has been transferred to the Government Inspectorate since April 2025.
Therefore, it is not yet determined which unit will be in charge of implementing the process. The specific guideline is expected to be issued in August.
Regarding the celebrities advertising exaggerated products, Mr. Do said that the Department has recently punished a number of cases such as BTV Quang Minh, Van Hugo, MC Hoang Linh.
As for MC Quyen Linh and actor Doan Quoc Dam, Duoc only reminded because the advertising contract had expired two years ago, beyond the statute of limitations for administrative sanctions.
The violations of these two artists are not clear, the level of exaggeration is not specifically determined. The management agency worked with the artists and requested a commitment not to repeat the offense.
At the same time, Mr. Do said that artists are facing pressure, not knowing whether they will be able to advertise more or not.
The leader of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information said that he will continue to work with the Central Propaganda Department and the Central Mass Mobilization Department to soon pilot this process.
