Spreading reading culture
Although the digitization of bookshelves and libraries has been implemented in many places, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism believes that in order for people to access more knowledge and strengthen the building of a learning society, it is necessary to widely deploy models.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requires, step by step, to digitally transform the library industry; harmoniously combine traditional reading spaces (paper books) and online reading spaces (digital books, audio books), creating a flexible interactive environment for the community.
A digital community bookshelf can be interconnected with public libraries, schools, community learning centers and local digital platforms. When data warehouses are standardized and shared, investment resources will be used more effectively, avoiding the situation where each place builds its own system but cannot connect.
This is also the spirit of the Library Industry Digital Transformation Program: Building, integrating, connecting, interconnecting and sharing digital information resources and databases between libraries for the community, businesses, community libraries and private libraries to participate.
Resolution 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on Vietnamese cultural development also emphasizes ensuring the right to enjoy and create culture, equal cultural access; and at the same time sets out the requirement to build and operate a digital cultural platform, providing free or low-cost digital library services, digital museums and online cultural services to narrow the gap in cultural enjoyment between regions and people.
The guidance of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, if implemented synchronously and fully to become an important "soft infrastructure" of the learning society so that people can always access, learn, explore and improve their quality of life.
