In response to fans' positive reactions, in a recent interview, Yoo Yeon Seok shared about the process of making this scene.
The actor said: “This is the first night of a couple in their third year of marriage, they have not talked or communicated with each other, they reunited after a long time apart and experienced many ups and downs. Therefore, I wanted to record that first night in a beautiful and memorable way.
We put a lot of effort into this scene. I talked a lot with Soo Bin and the director. We also looked at many different videos.
I saw a video online of 700 people in a food court in Brazil cheering while watching the movie. I was very pleased that it was a beautiful and successful scene.”
Also in the interview, the reporter mentioned the nickname “kiss scene master” given to Yoo Yeon Seok by the audience, and said that the level of kiss scenes in “When the Phone Rings” is quite high for a drama broadcast on public television.
Yoo Yeon Seok asked in surprise, “Really?” The actor further explained, “I discussed a lot with Soo Bin and the director while filming the kiss scene. Our kiss situations are all different, so it depends on the character’s feelings.
Sometimes I do it because I'm happy, sometimes I'm emotional after receiving a proposal. I try to express my emotional state in different ways.
And in the kiss scene in the final episode, it was a reunion kiss, a kiss that helped me overcome my guilt.
I think viewers responded positively because they were really immersed in those kissing scenes.”
Talking about working with Chae Soo Bin, Yoo Yeon Seok said that at first, the two were quite shy when filming romantic scenes. Because Soo Bin is a shy girl, it took time to get to know and become close.
But because the two actors were in the same company and Soo Bin had a positive, bright personality, she later “started to trust” him.
“I am very grateful to her for her good cooperation, even when filming difficult scenes,” said the actor.
