Workers working by shift, especially night shifts, often have their natural biological rhythms disrupted, affecting overall health and having a clear impact on their skin. Skin is prone to discoloration, dryness, acne, and premature aging.
The most important factor for skin beauty is filtered water. Working by shift makes the body easily dehydrated due to stress, lack of sleep and hormone disorders. Drinking enough water helps maintain skin moisture, supports the process of waste removal and improves elasticity. Workers should divide the amount of water to drink evenly during the day (or night), avoid drinking too much at once to avoid putting pressure on the kidneys.
Besides filtered water, vegetable and fresh fruit juices are very beneficial choices. Vitamin C-rich juices such as oranges, grapefruits, and pineapples help stimulate collagen production, making the skin brighter and firmer. Meanwhile, carrot and tomato juices contain beta-carotene and lycopene which have antioxidant effects, protecting the skin from the effects of stress and artificial lighting - factors that workers often come into contact with.
Workers in shifts can also refer to herbal tea. Chrysanthemum tea, artichoke tea, diluted ginger tea or low-caffeine green tea help cool down, reduce inflammation and support the liver - an organ closely related to skin condition. In particular, for night shift workers, tea types that do not contain or contain very little caffeine will help soothe nerves, improve sleep quality after work, thereby indirectly helping skin recover better.
Another group of drinks not to be ignored are seed milk and smoothies. Almond milk, walnut milk, avocado or banana smoothies provide vitamin E, good fats and minerals that help nourish the skin from the inside out. However, you need to limit sugar in addition to avoid acne and weight gain.
Not only paying attention to drinks that support beautiful skin, shift workers need to avoid drinks that are harmful to the skin such as too strong coffee, carbonated soft drinks and alcohol. These drinks cause dehydration, endocrine disorders and accelerate skin aging.
To beautify skin, shift workers should prioritize filtered water, natural juices, herbal tea and seed milk, combined with a reasonable rest regimen.
Skin beauty does not only come from cosmetics but starts from what everyone drinks every day.
