According to the 2025 socio-economic situation report of Dien Bien province, the labor market is trending towards stable development after many synchronous solutions were implemented. The labor force aged 15 and over is estimated to reach 357,759 people, an increase of 2.66% compared to 2024. In which, the number of people employed is 355,858 people, an increase of 2.53%.
Notably, the labor structure is shifting to reduce the proportion of labor in the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors and gradually increase the proportion of labor in the industrial - construction and service sectors.
Job creation is also a bright spot when creating new jobs for 10,360 workers, exceeding 12.61% compared to the annual plan.
However, with job creation, the quality of life of workers has also improved. Average income per capita in 2025 is estimated at 2.45 million VND/person/month, an increase of 1.29% compared to the same period.

Unemployment insurance policy also plays a role when functional agencies have received and resolved benefits for more than 1,300 people with a total amount of unemployment benefits of more than 27.3 billion VND.
Striving for economic growth above 11%
To meet the increasing demands of the labor market, 2025 marks major turning points in vocational education in Dien Bien.
The province has completed the establishment of the branch of Thai Nguyen University in Dien Bien. Completed the merger of Vocational College and College of Economics - Technology and renamed it Dien Bien College.
In particular, supporting investors to establish FPT Education Complex promises to bring a breath of fresh air, training high-quality human resources, and accessing modern technology right in the locality.
In 2026, Dien Bien strives for an economic growth rate of 11.02%. To realize the goal, the Provincial People's Committee develops a detailed growth scenario for each economic sector.
Specifically, the agricultural, forestry and fishery sector (expected growth of 4.03%); The industrial sector (up 10.63%); Construction industry (up 21.43%); Service sector (up 10.66%).
In addition, investment will be the main driving force for growth with the total announced investment capital plan reaching 1,983 billion VND.
Non-budget investment capital focuses on large-scale projects, mainly in the fields of urban areas, housing, services - tourism and energy, creating space for sustainable growth.
Dien Bien province has a natural area of more than 9,541 km2; 45 has commune-level administrative units (42 communes, 3 wards).
Dien Bien has an estimated average population in 2025 of 667,417 people (urban population accounts for 13.88%; rural areas account for 86.12%) with 19 brotherly ethnic groups living together.
