From October 4 to 15, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 successfully organized the 2024 combined and live-fire drill at sea (VTH-24). This is one of the important tasks to improve combat capabilities, meeting mission requirements in the new situation.
The exercise aims to improve the overall quality, organizational and command capabilities of cadres at all levels, technical and tactical skills, combat coordination, and the use of weapons and equipment by officers and soldiers. The exercise content is comprehensively deployed by the Regional Command, with a focus on combining tactical training practices and handling hypothetical situations of single ships and squadrons of Coast Guard ships.
Colonel Tran Nguyen Lai - Deputy Commander, Adviser to the Regional Command, Deputy Head directing the exercise - said: The comprehensive tactical exercise at the squadron level has the form of confrontation to carry out the task of protecting sovereignty for the squadron level, ship level and firing live ammunition with guns and artillery at sea. This is one of the important contents and core tasks of the Regional Command.
The exercise consists of 4 phases: phase 1 is the transition to combat readiness; phase 2 is the organization of combat preparation; phase 3 is combat practice; phase 4 is the practice of firing live ammunition with guns and artillery at sea. In particular, phase 3 is the confrontation practice phase, including 3 situations of fighting to protect sovereignty, which are set up close to reality with the functions and tasks of the Regional Command and are carried out at increasing levels.
The content of this year's squadron-level confrontation was more clearly demonstrated in all aspects. The squadrons demonstrated their role in organizing and operating the correct leadership mechanism of the Party committee and organization in combat, promoting their role in leading, commanding, giving advice, and using forces in combat practice, making determination to fight, and handling situations according to procedures and regulations on combat advice work.
In which, there is a quick processing procedure, sequential processing, a clearly organized combat operation mechanism from the squadron and fleet levels to the forces directly fighting in the field. In addition, there is a test of the command capacity of the deputies, replacing the commander in situations as required by the Steering Committee to make the exercise more comprehensive.
The exercise took place as planned, achieving the set goals and requirements. The organization of gun and artillery firing at sea was strict, following the correct procedures and rules, achieving good results. Among them, the live firing of B41 guns and RPD machine guns was carried out for the first time, achieving 100% good and excellent results. Ensuring absolute safety for people, weapons and technical equipment.
Through the exercise, it can be affirmed that the overall quality, combat readiness level and law enforcement capacity of the unit have been improved, capable of meeting the requirements of performing the functions and tasks of the Regional Command in the new period.
