After the two recent storms No. 10 and No. 11, Cao Bang province suffered heavy damage with a total estimated economic loss of more than VND3,000 billion.
According to statistics from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cao Bang province, 12 bridges, suspension bridges, and hard bridges in the area were damaged and swept away by floodwaters, causing traffic disruption, seriously affecting people's lives, study and production.
Many bridges in Nguyen Binh, Truong Ha, Trung Khanh, Thanh Cong, Minh Khai, Khanh Xuan communes... have collapsed or are severely damaged.

In particular, Phia Bo hard bridge (Nguyen Binh commune) and Tam Hop bridge (Thanh Cong commune) both had broken bridge legs, leading to complete collapse, isolating hundreds of households. The damaged Phia Bo bridge alone has prevented 79 preschool students in 5 hamlets from going to class.
In Tan Giang ward, the two suspension bridges Na Hoang and Na Din were swept away by strong floodwaters, causing the bridge surface to shift, the railing to break, and the cable-stayed bridges to break. Although the main cable is still there, the deterioration poses a high risk of unsafety for travel.
In Minh Khai commune, Khuoi Duoc bridge was completely washed away by floodwaters, while Na Sen bridge was cracked and subsided at the foot of the bridge, making it impossible for traffic. Thong Nong commune recorded 3 damaged bridges: Coc Ca hard bridge collapsed at the bridgehead, Na Leng suspension bridge curved around the railing, threatening the safety of people.
In Khanh Xuan commune, the two monkey bridges Khuoi Nguoc and Khuoi Na Tang were swept away by floodwaters, forcing 30 households and 15 students to cross the stream to go to school.

During the rainy season, rising water makes travel completely isolated. In the same commune, the Part Quang bridge (also a temporary bamboo bridge) was also washed away, affecting 71 households and 96 primary school students.
In Thuc Phan ward, Sooc Nam suspension bridge is also covered with mud, tree branches, and garbage, increasing the load, damaging the railing and the bridge mach, and posing a potential risk of collapse at any time.
In particular, two spillways in Xuan Truong commune (in the area of Na Doan and Thua Tong hamlets) were filled in, preventing water from draining in time during heavy rain, cutting off traffic. More than 300 households, along with agencies, schools and commune health stations were seriously affected.

In that situation, the local government and the Fatherland Front Committee of Cao Bang province are calling for the cooperation of agencies, businesses and philanthropists to support the repair and construction of new bridges for people, helping people soon restore traffic and stabilize their lives.
In the immediate future, focus on building a new hard bridge in Fong Quang (8m long, 4m wide), two monkey bridges in Khuoi Nguoc and Khuoi Na Tang, along with two replacement bridges for spillways in Na Doan and Thua Tong.
