Key projects changing the face of the capital

Among the key projects to celebrate the 18th City Party Congress, it is worth noting the groundbreaking of component project 2 - investment in the construction of Thuong Cat bridge and access roads at both ends of the bridge, on October 8, with a total investment of more than VND 7,300 billion from the Hanoi budget. The project is expected to be completed in 2027, and is expected to open a new connection direction between the two banks of the Red River, contributing to reducing traffic congestion and promoting socio-economic development in the northern part of the capital.

Mr. Duong Duc Tuan - Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee - said that this is a key project, part of the Hanoi Party Committee's program on urban renovation and development and urban economy for the period 2021-2025. The above project is of great significance in completing the infrastructure of the red River, connecting the North of the Red River with the center of Hanoi, contributing to the completion of the Ring Road 3.5. On October 5, Hanoi also started construction of the Hanoi Opera House and thematic Cultural - Arts Park project with a scale of 19 hectares, with a total investment of more than 12,700 billion VND. The project is expected to become a new symbolic project, not only of the capital but also of the whole country, contributing to affirming the position of a cultural - artistic center of Hanoi in the new development stage. Dr. Tran Du Lich - Member of the National Financial and Monetary Policy Advisory Council said that in the era of national growth, to create a breakthrough, it is impossible to apply traditional economic principles but must come from determination and political will.
"Hanoi and the whole country need private projects to participate, need political determination, appoint, assign, and invite the private sector to participate in key projects, major projects of the country to create breakthroughs in development. This is a development role, creating a breakthrough in the private economic sector, said Dr. Tran Du Lich.
Basically solving the problems that have existed for many years in the capital
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee - said that on the occasion of the anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10) and before the 18th Congress of the City Party Committee, Hanoi has focused on starting a series of key projects of the 17th Congress term and will continue to implement in the 18th term.
According to Mr. Phong, these projects are all strategic and comprehensive, aiming to fundamentally solve the problems that have existed for many years in the capital, especially in the field of infrastructure, including the transportation system connecting beltways, bridges across the Red River, and environmental treatment projects.

Mr. Phong said that the city has identified 18 key groups of projects for the upcoming 18th Congress term, striving to start construction and complete it within the term.
"This is a very important issue. If this goal is set, it means that Hanoi must truly become an attractive destination not only domestically but also internationally" - Mr. Phong said.
According to him, Hanoi must choose the right strengths to create breakthroughs such as science - technology, innovation, digital transformation, cultural industry and tourism development.
"Hanoi is also the locality that has topped the country in terms of innovation index for 3 consecutive years. This is an important premise for the city to have a basis and confidence in implementing breakthrough solutions in the coming period, Mr. Phong affirmed.
