2 streets in Cau Giay to be piloted for pedestrian streets

HOÀI ANH |

Hanoi - The city will pilot cultural space and pedestrian streets on Thanh Thai street and Khuc Thua Du street (Cau Giay ward).

Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Truong Viet Dung has just signed and issued a decision on "Project to pilot the organization of cultural space and pedestrian street on Thanh Thai street, Cau Giay ward, Hanoi City".

The long-term and immediate goal is that the city will pilot cultural spaces and pedestrian streets on Thanh Thai street and Khuc Thua Du street, expected to operate on weekend evenings, holidays and peak seasons.

Along with that, establishing space dedicated to pedestrians, combined with organizing cultural, artistic, commercial, culinary and community activities; ensuring reasonable traffic diversion, limiting motorized vehicles during the organization time.

In this area, full temporary and long-term infrastructure is arranged such as: lighting systems, signs, soft barriers, parking spots, public toilets, sorting trash cans, rest chairs, mobile green trees...

According to the roadmap, phase 1 of the project focuses on investing in the construction of the core area of the Cau Giay cultural space with a specific scope including: Some items inside Cau Giay Park and the section of Thanh Thai street adjacent to the park.

Phase 2, research to expand the scope of cultural space to other areas of Khuc Thua Du and Truong Cong Giai streets, connecting and supporting areas of Duy Tan street, concentrated Information Technology Zone, CV1 regulating lake park.

To realize the above goals, the city requires the implementation of many key solutions.

In which, for the traffic option, it must follow a 3-layer model.

Grade 1 is the core pedestrian area, during the organization and control time frame, motor vehicles are controlled; absolute priority is given to pedestrians, cultural activities, technical vehicles, ambulances, fire trucks, special service vehicles when necessary. Barricades must be soft, flexible, manned, and have emergency openings.

Grade 2 is the buffer zone for residents and services, it is necessary to ensure that residents, buildings, apartments, and essential business establishments still have access roads. Research and issue ID codes for residents, guide separate entrances and exits, speed control, arrange short-term stops for technology vehicles, delivery vehicles, vehicles serving the elderly, children, and people with disabilities.

Grade 3 is a remote traffic diversion area, there must be signs and directions from the axes of streets: Cau Giay, Tran Thai Tong, Duy Tan, Duong Dinh Nghe, Truong Cong Giai, Tho Thap, Pham Van Bach; study the installation of at least 6 electronic signs at important nodes.

For the "Cau Giay Food Street" brand building solution, the initial phase is to research a mobile sales car model and a mobile centralized food area instead of traditional food kiosks. It is possible to arrange about 15 mobile sales cars or mobile food booths designed synchronously, identifiable in green, white, and young yellow, arranged in the Khuc Thua Du area or a suitable service buffer zone.

Each vehicle and booth must list prices, have a code to scan and trace the origin of raw materials, pay without cash, and have a plan to collect garbage, grease, and wastewater.

Orientation menu structure: Minimum 50% of dishes and products bearing Hanoi - Cau Giay identity; about 30% of selected Asian and European dishes; about 20% of vegetarian, healthy, low plastic waste dishes. Friday evening may be "Miniature Hanoi Old Quarter"; Saturday evening is "World Street Food"; Sunday evening is "Vegetarian and Green Living Cuisine".
