2 locations on the Phap Van - Nghi Son expressway are being handled for distance errors by traffic police

Currently, the traffic police force only handles distance errors at 2 locations on the Phap Van - Nghi Son expressway.

On the morning of September 2nd, information from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of the Ministry of Public Security said that to proactively prevent traffic accidents, the traffic police force is strengthening propaganda and reminding vehicle drivers to maintain a safe distance from vehicles running in front.

According to the Traffic Police Department, the handling of acts of not complying with regulations on safe distance is carried out conditionally, focusing on cases of intentional violation or having been reminded many times but still continuing to violate.

Notably, the traffic police force only controls and handles at locations where traffic has been organized, including signs and distance markings between vehicles according to regulations. These locations must also have a monitoring system to record violations in the form of electronic evidence.

The Traffic Police Department believes that combining electronic data from the monitoring system with traffic signs, road markings regulating distances on the road surface, along with images or videos recorded at the time of violation, helps functional forces accurately determine the speed and distance of vehicles.

Currently, the control and handling of safety distance violations are being implemented at Km219 and Km326 on the Phap Van - Cau Gie - Cao Bo - Mai Son - National Highway 45 - Nghi Son expressway," the Traffic Police Department informed.

The Traffic Police Department notes that on other expressway sections, vehicle drivers must still proactively maintain a safe distance from vehicles running in front, based on traffic speed and actual conditions.

According to the Traffic Police Department, through monitoring the traffic situation and accidents and collisions on highways, the traffic police force found that vehicles clinging too close to vehicles in front of them poses a high risk of chain collisions.

Reality shows that when traveling at high speeds (including from 40km/h or 50km/h or more), if the car in front suddenly slows down, stops or encounters problems, the car in the back does not maintain enough distance or closely follows the rear of the previous car, there will not be enough time and distance to handle the car to stop, easily leading to continuous collisions in the style of "packing cars".

Just a small collision can occupy the lane, create congestion and cause thousands of vehicles behind to slow down and stop to wait," the Traffic Police Department informed.
