In the afternoon of September 1st, the traffic volume on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway, in the direction from the Mekong Delta provinces to Ho Chi Minh City, increased sharply. Faced with this situation, the Traffic Police force organized regulation and temporarily opened emergency stopping lanes in some areas for vehicles to circulate, contributing to reducing congestion.
According to information from the Traffic Police Department, Team 7 of Room 6 used motorbikes to lead vehicles to the emergency lane in necessary areas.
The scope of regulation organization extends from Km49+800, the area of the old Than Cuu Nghia toll station, to Km10+000, the area of Cho Dem toll station on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway.
The regulation plan is implemented in the direction from the Mekong Delta provinces to Ho Chi Minh City, from 4:30 PM to 11:30 PM on September 1st.
The traffic police force noted that the direction from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong Delta provinces does not apply the option for vehicles to move into the emergency stop lane. Vehicle drivers need to comply with the instructions of the traffic police, and do not arbitrarily use the emergency stop lane without being instructed by functional forces.
To ensure safety, functional forces request drivers to keep a distance from the car in front, not jostle, overtake recklessly and limit changing lanes. When there are traffic diversion instructions, vehicles need to move according to the regulation of functional forces.
Proactive traffic diversion and vehicle guidance were implemented in the context of the afternoon of September 1st, people returning from the Mekong Delta provinces to Ho Chi Minh City after the National Day holiday on September 2nd, causing the number of vehicles on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway to increase sharply.
