On August 31, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of the Ministry of Public Security said that after 5 days of implementing propaganda and handling drivers who do not maintain a safe distance on some highways, the Traffic Police Department found that most drivers participating in traffic on the route initially have a sense of keeping a safe distance from the car in front.
The Traffic Police Department has arranged forces to monitor all clips and images of vehicles not keeping a safe distance and only handles a number of cases of drivers intentionally not keeping a distance, closely following the rear of the car in front (mainly business transport vehicles).
Handling vehicles that do not maintain a safe distance is carried out on road sections that meet the conditions (with signs and road markings on the distance). At the same time, propaganda and education of drivers' awareness of complying with regulations on speed and distance on the road is the main thing. So that each driver considers it a conditional reflex, a habit when traveling.
The Traffic Police Department performs recording of the act of not keeping a safe distance from the vehicle immediately in front at road sections that are arranged with traffic signs and road markings in accordance with regulations. These images will be implemented in individual and general education to raise drivers' awareness.
For cases that have been reminded, educated many times or have grasped the regulations but still intentionally commit violations (mainly business transport vehicles), they will be handled.
Representatives of the Traffic Police Department recommend that keeping a safe distance as well as fastening seat belts are both regulations to help prevent the risk of accidents and minimize damage caused by accidents.
As of today (August 31), functional forces have handled 24 cases of violations of regulations on not keeping a safe distance on the highway.
Regarding subjects, functional forces also focus on handling business transport vehicles (passenger cars, limousines, tractor-trailers...). This is a group of vehicles that are identified as frequently causing particularly serious accidents, causing very serious consequences.
