The road traffic police have inspected, detected and handled 41,776 violations; fined 118 billion 224 million VND; temporarily detained 221 cars, 11,335 motorbikes and 351 other vehicles; revoked 1,313 driving licenses of all kinds.
Of which, 9,154 cases of alcohol concentration violations, 11,360 cases of speeding violations, 256 cases of overload, 133 cases of limited oversizing, 14 cases of self- mustard vehicle renovation, 35 cases of violations involving drug use were handled.
In the field of waterways, the police force detected and handled 815 violations, fined 1 billion 080 million VND.
In the railway sector, the police have inspected, detected, and handled 29 violations, fined 44 million VND.
The Office of the Ministry of Public Security announced that during the 5 holidays, there were 268 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 128 people and injuring 203 people. Compared to the 5-day holiday in 2024, there was a decrease of 79 cases, 10 deaths, and 82 injuries.
Of which, 265 cases occurred on roads, killing 126 people and injuring 200 people. There was 1 railway accident, killing 1 person and injuring 3 others. There were 2 waterway accidents, killing 1 person.
Notably, in the early morning of May 1, a tractor-trailer carrying a tank crashed into a house on National Highway 10, An Lao District, Hai Phong City.
According to Hai Phong City Police, the accident occurred at 3:03 a.m. in Quoc Tuan Commune. The tractor-trailer driven by Mr. Vu Huy Manh (38 years old, in So Dau ward, Hong Bang district) in the direction of Thai Binh - Quang Ninh crashed into the house of Mr. Hoang Viet Dung located next to National Highway 10.
Mr. Dung's house collapsed, two motorbikes and many other properties were damaged, no one in the house was injured. However, Manh driver had a broken right leg and the front of the tractor-trailer was severely damaged, lying in the rubble.
At 11:22 a.m. on April 30, an accident occurred with a tractor-trailer with license plate 51D-378.08, pulling a trailer with license plate 50RM-007.29, traveling on National Highway 51, in the direction from Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau City. When reaching Km38 + 130 National Highway 51, My Xuan Ward, Phu My City, Luan drove a car to the right to enter My Xuan A Industrial Park and collided with a motorbike with license plate 95N1-0 step 14.58 driven by Mr. Nguyen Van Van (born in 1973; residing in Vinh An Hamlet, Ninh Hoa Commune, Hong Dan District, Bac Lieu Province), carrying Ms. Nguyen Kim Cuong (born in 1985; residing in Coi Tu Hamlet, Khanh Binh Tay Commune, Tran Van Thoi District, Ca Mau Province) sitting behind, traveling in the same direction. The consequences of the accident caused Mr. Van and Ms. Cuong to die on the spot, and the motorbike was severely damaged.
The National Traffic Safety Committee assessed that the traffic order and safety situation during the 5 days of the holiday was basically guaranteed.
Traffic accidents have decreased significantly compared to last year, with no particularly serious traffic accidents. The handling of violations, especially alcohol concentration and speeding violations, has been drastically increased, and traffic situation has been well controlled.
Transportation activities and passenger transport management have been strengthened in all fields of road, rail and air, meeting the travel needs of people during the holiday. Security and order at bus stations, stations, airports, and on passenger transport vehicles have been maintained stably.
