On October 6, information from Thai Nguyen Provincial Police said that after 9 months of implementing the regulation on deducting driving license points, the whole province recorded more than 29,000 violations.
Of these, 6,452 drivers had their driving license points deducted, mainly due to violations of alcohol concentration, running red lights, speeding, driving in the wrong direction, overloading or not wearing seat belts.

Some cases are deducted up to 10 points due to serious violations such as violating alcohol concentration exceeding the permitted threshold or reversing on the highway, posing a potential risk of causing accidents.
According to Mr. Ha Duc Dan - Captain of the Propaganda, Investigation and Resolution of Accidents and Handling of Violations Team, each driver's license is granted 12 points and will be deducted depending on the level of fault.
In case all points are deducted, students must study and retake the traffic law test to have their driving license restored.

The deduction mechanism helps the management of violations to be longer-term, overcoming the situation of individual fines as before.
Many modern forms of handling have been deployed, including coordinating with the Post Office to return documents to thousands of cases and handling all violation records online.
The point management system is being connected electronically nationwide, helping to monitor transparently, consistently and conveniently for the authorities.
Changes in the way violations are managed and handled are expected to contribute to shaping better awareness of traffic law compliance in the driver community.
