Implementing the direction of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province on handling environmental pollution in Dai Bai craft village, the People's Committee of Gia Binh district has issued a plan to inspect the implementation of environmental issues, land, fire prevention and fighting, traffic corridor order, and electrical safety for production facilities, metal foundries, and recycling in Dai Bai commune.
At the same time, 2 interdisciplinary inspection teams were established to conduct inspections of 100% of production facilities in the craft village and Dai Bai Craft Village Industrial Cluster.
From March 22 to 24, the district's interdisciplinary inspection teams inspected 65 establishments operating scrap, fertilizer, sugarcane recycling and copper refining in Dai Bai commune.
Through inspection, 100% of facilities violated the environment, the Inspection Team drew up records and announced the suspension of operations for 65 facilities, of which 47 facilities were forced to stop production, and drew up records of administrative violations to fine 6 facilities.
Through propaganda and guidance work, the basic production facilities agreed and strictly complied with the law on environmental protection; 65 facilities committed to voluntarily dismantling incinerators and chimneys in the next 3 days, of which 16 facilities have completed the dismantling of all incinerators and chimneys.
In the coming time, the interdisciplinary inspection teams of Gia Binh district will continue to inspect and strictly handle environmental violations in production activities in craft villages and Dai Bai craft village industrial cluster.
The district's viewpoint is not to encourage the development of new occupations for foundry and recycling of copper scrap; foundries for foundrying and recycling of copper scrap that are not qualified to operate are required to close, stop operations and encourage people to switch to other activities; encourage the promotion and preservation of traditional craft villages, which are handicraft making.
According to statistics, Dai Bai craft village has 461 households producing handicrafts; 184 households casting aluminum and copper; 26 households specializing in scrap recycling casting; in Dai Bai craft village industrial cluster, there are 75 production households.
Both the craft village and the Dai Bai craft village industrial cluster do not have a centralized wastewater treatment area; there is no waste treatment area from aluminum and copper recycling foundry production; there is no self-treatment system for wastewater; 132 households have built 170 chimneys with an average height of 7 - 22m to treat emissions.
