On the afternoon of March 22, Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province chaired a conference on handling environmental pollution in the industrial cluster (CCN) of Dai Bai craft village (Gia Binh district) and craft villages, CCN, and facilities causing serious environmental pollution in the province.
Recently, the work of handling environmental pollution in craft villages and craft village industrial parks in Bac Ninh has achieved many important results.
The three craft villages and industrial parks of Phong Khe craft village (Bac Ninh city), Phu Lam (Tien Du district), Van Mon (Yen Phong district) have been seriously polluted for many years and have been basically thoroughly resolved, as a premise and lessons for environmental pollution treatment in other craft villages and industrial parks.
A typical example is Dai Bai copper casting village (Gia Binh district) which has existed for a long time.
The craft village has 2,326 households, 8,390 people, including: 461 households producing handicrafts; 184 households casting aluminum and copper; 26 households specializing in scrap recycling casting; the remaining households are engaged in agriculture, services, and trade.
Dai Bai Craft Village Industrial Park was built in 2002, with an area of 6.2 hectares managed by Dai Bai Commune People's Committee, with 75 production households.
The craft village and Dai Bai craft village industrial park do not have a centralized wastewater treatment area; there is no waste treatment area from aluminum and copper recycling casting production; there is no wastewater self-treatment system; 132 households have built 170 chimneys with an average height of 7 - 22m to treat emissions.
The craft village has developed a number of new occupations, notably the activities of casting, recycling aluminum and copper scrap, metal cleaning activities; the operation process does not ensure environmental safety, the waste from this activity is large, not being treated, and discharged directly into the environment, which is the main cause of environmental pollution.
On March 21, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province continued to issue Plan No. 171 on strengthening management, inspection, supervision, and handling of environmental pollution, fire prevention and fighting, and rescue in craft villages, industrial parks, and facilities causing serious environmental pollution in the province.
In particular, focusing on inspecting compliance with regulations on environment, fire prevention and fighting, electrical safety... for establishments, households, and individuals with production and business activities in Dai Bai copper casting village and Dai Bai Industrial Park (Gia Binh); Khac Niem cake and vermicelli making (Bac Ninh city); Da Hoi steel recycling village and Chau Khe Industrial Park, Chau Khe Industrial Park expanded, Chau Khe ward, Ma Ong Industrial Park, Dinh Bang ward (Tu Son city); Xuan Lam Industrial Park, Xuan Lam ward (Thuan Thanh town) and production facilities located in densely populated urban areas, rural areas causing serious environmental pollution.
The inspection period is from March 25 to April 30, 2025.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province Vuong Quoc Tuan requested departments, branches and localities to focus on implementing Plan 171 of the Provincial People's Committee, reviewing and promptly handling environmental violations under their management.
