On November 17, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City said it had sent a document to localities on overcoming the damage caused by heavy rain, which occurred on November 10-11, in the communes of Binh Chau, Ho Tram, Dat Do, Chau Duc (Ho Chi Minh City).
According to preliminary statistics, it is estimated that 68 households and 9 houses were flooded and caused property damage. About 126 hectares of rice, corn, and other crops were damaged, along with 29 hectares of aquaculture; 315 poultry of all kinds were swept away. At the same time, a 36-meter-long section of the N2 canal under the Cau Moi dam irrigation project also collapsed.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment requested the above localities to urgently overcome the consequences of the damage. For damage to agricultural production, localities shall base on regulations on policies to support agricultural production to restore production in areas damaged by natural disasters and plant pests to provide support.
For the damages that have not been determined, coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune to visit, encourage, and support the affected families to soon stabilize their lives for the people.

In case of difficulties, the locality is requested to propose to the Department of Agriculture and Environment for synthesis and reporting to the People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for consideration and resolution.
In addition, the locality needs to organize a review of areas at risk of flooding, proactively propose investment, upgrade irrigation works, embankments, dykes, dredge canals and ditches to ensure drainage capacity. Timely handle and reinforce vulnerable locations according to the "four on-site" motto, prevent overflows of embankments and dykes that cause flooding and affect people's lives and production.
The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Irrigation Works Management and Exploitation urgently overcomes the incident of the collapse into the N2 canal of the Cau Moi dam irrigation project, to ensure the safety of the project and effective operation. At the same time, inspect and regulate flood discharge in reservoirs appropriately to minimize damage to people in downstream areas.
