On November 15, the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Irrigation Works Management and Exploitation announced the expected release of floodwaters from the Song Hoa and Song Ray reservoirs in the area (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau area).
In particular, it is expected to discharge floodwater from the two reservoirs between 8:00 a.m. on November 16 and 8:00 a.m. on November 26. The purpose of the flood discharge is to ensure the safety of the project in the face of prolonged heavy rain.
At Song Hoa Lake, the water level recorded on the morning of November 13 at an elevation of 24.85 m. At Song Ray Lake, on the same day, the water level was recorded at an elevation of 72.82 m (higher than before, although this place is still in the second flood discharge period lasting until November 16).
Flood discharge activities may affect production households along the two banks of the Hoa River in Xuyen Moc and Ho Tram communes; and on both banks of the Ray River in Xuan Son, Ho Tram, Hoa Hoi, Bau Lam, Dat Do, Phuoc Hai communes.
People are advised not to fish, dig crabs, or catch snails during the above time to ensure safety. At the same time, protect production and assets, limit access to riverside areas during the flood discharge period.
As a locality directly affected by the flood discharge of both lakes, Ho Tram commune has issued a document requesting relevant units to proactively warn people living along the riverbank. At the same time, the commune directed specialized sectors to mobilize forces, urgently overcome the consequences of the previous flooding, and support affected people to soon stabilize their lives.
