Regarding housing, on August 25, 4 houses collapsed and had their roofs blown off, with an estimated damage of about 172 million VND.
From August 21 to August 26, there were 4 landslides with a length of 113m in the province. According to the An Giang Irrigation Department, the cause of the landslide was due to floodwaters, strong currents, and steep dike slopes, causing erosion that weakens the dike foundation combined with prolonged heavy rain causing landslides. The incident affected rural roads.
Previously, on August 21, a man (born in 1965, residing in Bai Thom Quarter, Phu Quoc Special Zone) went missing while fishing for squid at sea. The family reported to the Quarter and the Da Chong Border Guard Station to search, according to initial assessment, this person fell into the sea and has not been found yet.
Immediately after the incident, local authorities in areas affected by thunderstorms and tornadoes supported affected families. The Irrigation Department continues to coordinate with the People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones to monitor and count the damage caused by natural disasters in localities to advise the Department of Agriculture and Environment to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and support.
The People's Committee of Binh My Commune, Tay Phu Coordinated with the Irrigation Department, Chau Phu Agricultural Technical Station, and Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited to survey the scene, isolate the area, fence, stretch ropes, ban warning signs, hang warning lights, move tree branches to reduce the load and regularly inspect and continue to monitor to warn people in landslide areas.
In August 2025, heavy rain and thunderstorms killed 3 people (hacked 1 person, drowned 2 people), collapsed 30 houses, blew off the roofs of 219 houses; big waves sank 5 fishing vessels and damaged many other properties of the State and people. The estimated value of material damage is about more than 7.5 billion VND.
