On July 13, a Government working delegation led by Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung had a working session with leaders of An Giang province on the implementation of the 2026 economic growth target.
Reporting to the working delegation, leaders of An Giang Provincial People's Committee said that right from the beginning of 2026, the province has focused on synchronously implementing solutions to achieve the double-digit economic growth target as directed by the Central Government and the Government.
In the first 6 months of the year, the province's GRDP increased by 8.83% compared to the same period, with the second quarter reaching an increase of 10.30%, creating a favorable foundation to complete the full-year growth target of 10.71% or more.
The province has developed detailed growth scenarios for each quarter, in which striving for GRDP in the third quarter to increase by 11.26%, in the fourth quarter to increase by 13.55%, focusing on drivers such as processing industry, construction, services, logistics and promoting the advantages of the marine economy and post-merger border gate economy.

Regarding public investment, the province's total capital plan for 2026 reached nearly 28,700 billion VND, with 100% of eligible capital allocated. Projects serving the APEC 2027 Conference alone have disbursed more than 5,300 billion VND, reaching 38.63% of the plan.
For science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, the province has allocated more than 1,339 billion VND, promoting the development of the digital economy, building land databases, applying high technology in agricultural production and digitizing state management sectors. However, the disbursement progress of some technology projects is still slow due to changes in mechanisms, policies and complex technical requirements for large-scale data integration projects.
An Giang province proposed that the Government continue to improve specific mechanisms and policies for key projects; consider supplementing central budget capital for infrastructure projects, digital transformation, science and technology and projects serving APEC; remove obstacles in planning, land, construction materials, and at the same time support resources to implement landslide prevention projects, bring electricity to Tho Chau island and invest in strategic infrastructure, creating space for the locality to break through growth in the coming period.

Speaking at the working session, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung highly appreciated the efforts of An Giang province in implementing solutions to achieve economic growth goals. The results of the first 6 months of the year reached a growth rate of 8.83%, ranking 16th/34 provinces and cities in the country and leading the Mekong Delta region.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested the province to continue to promote key industries with competitive advantages such as: rice production, fruit trees, aquaculture exploitation, food processing, exploitation. Besides promoting advantages in available raw material sources, the province needs to strengthen the application of science and technology, promote deep processing, and develop stable raw material areas associated with market demand to improve added value and product competitiveness.
In addition, the province focuses on finding and inviting investment in industries and fields that create higher business value such as financial services, real estate, healthcare, healthcare, scientific and technological research, innovation; continue to promote stronger startup development in the private economy in both quantity and quality.
