Quang Tri - Mr. Dinh Van Tam is completing the snake mascot ordered by Da Nang City and Lao Bao Town People's Committee, to be delivered before the Lunar New Year.

On January 12, the People's Committee of Lao Bao town (Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province) confirmed that this unit had ordered a snake mascot to be displayed in the central park of Lao Bao town. The person who received the mascot was Mr. Dinh Van Tam (34 years old, residing in An Trung Dong village, Trieu Do commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province).

The total cost of making the mascot, as well as related information, has not been disclosed, but Mr. Le Ba Hung - Chairman of Lao Bao Town People's Committee affirmed that the cost is completely socialized, contributed and supported by local children and units.

“From around January 20 to January 25, the snake mascot will be transported to the park for decoration, creating a place for people to celebrate Tet and welcome spring,” Mr. Le Ba Hung informed.

Sharing with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dinh Van Tam said that on this occasion, the group of workers are working day and night to complete the mascots ordered by the units. Since September 2024, Mr. Tam has received the invitation to make the first snake mascot, up to this point, he has completed less than 10 snake mascots.

Most of the units that order snake mascots only give general requirements, while the specific images of the mascots are created by Tam and his colleagues. Tam revealed that the snake mascot made by Da Nang City is the largest among the mascots he made for this occasion.

“The basic mascots have been completed, we are currently assembling and redecorating. However, because of our commitment to the ordering unit, we will not disclose the image or design of the mascot before acceptance and handover,” said Mr. Dinh Van Tam.

In early January 2025, an orange snake mascot wearing a charming hat made by Mr. Dinh Van Tam appeared at a tourist spot in Huong Hoa district (Quang Tri province). To make this mascot, Tam and his team of workers spent about 10 days, the most difficult part was the snake's head, especially the face and eyes. When it appeared, although the tourist spot had not yet finished decorating and had not yet welcomed visitors, many people came to admire it, and expressed their interest in the snake mascot with its gentle and cute appearance.

It is known that Mr. Dinh Van Tam graduated from Duy Tan University with a degree in Construction, and chose to work as a sculptor and statue maker. While working and studying, in 2022 Tam was ordered by the People's Committee of Dong Ha City (Quang Tri Province) to make a tiger statue. The tiger statue was placed in Le Duan Park during Tet, and was unexpectedly well received by many people.

After the tiger statue, in the 2023 Lunar New Year, the People's Committee of Trieu Phong district (Quang Tri province) ordered Tam to make a cat statue. Like the tiger statue, the cat statue placed in the central square of Trieu Phong district became a place that attracted many people to visit and take souvenir photos. In the 2024 Lunar New Year, Tam accepted the request of the People's Committee of Lao Bao town to make a dragon mascot and the name Dinh Van Tam became more and more known, when this mascot attracted many people to admire.
