Put into use in 2018, up to now, Nhon Ly Fishing Wharf (Nhon Ly Commune, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh) has been seriously degraded, posing many potential risks to the safety of people and tourists entering and leaving the wharf.

It is known that Nhon Ly fishing port project belongs to the Coastal Resources for Sustainable Development project of Binh Dinh province, with an investment of about 37 billion VND funded by the World Bank. In addition to serving fishing logistics, Nhon Ly fishing port is also considered a stopover for tourists, while waiting for boats to take them to famous tourist destinations in Binh Dinh.

According to local people, when there was no fishing port, every time people went to sea, they had to go to the beach, which was very difficult. Since the fishing port was built, people here have been very excited, because it is very convenient for fishermen to buy and sell or go in and out of the port. However, after only a few years, the fishing port has deteriorated, threatening the safety of people and tourists.

In addition to the degraded state, the drainage ditches at the fishing port are always stagnant and give off a foul smell, affecting the health of fishermen.
To overcome the above situation, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province has allowed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to maintain and repair damaged and degraded assets at Nhon Ly Fishing Port, with an amount not exceeding 1.2 billion VND.

On October 3, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Tran Van Phuc - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Dinh province - said that the unit is currently implementing the repair of Nhon Ly fishing port. According to the request, this work must be completed this year.
On the same day, Mr. Dao Xuan Thien - Director of Binh Dinh Fishing Port Management Board (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Dinh province) - said that at the end of August 2024, the unit started repairing Nhon Ly Fishing Port, and is expected to complete the maintenance of the fishing port by the end of 2024.

"Recently, during the process of handing over the landmarks for construction, the supervising consultant unit noticed that some locations at the fishing port were more severely damaged than before, so they proposed to adjust some items. Currently, we are coordinating with the units to resolve arising issues. After reaching a consensus, we will put up barriers to prevent people from entering and exiting to ensure safety during the implementation process," said Mr. Thien.
According to Mr. Dao Xuan Thien, the drainage system cannot be resolved yet. Because the previous drainage ditches were not designed properly, causing water stagnation, which over time caused pollution. Currently, the only temporary solution is to encourage fishermen to maintain public hygiene and regularly dredge the flow.
