In the afternoon of August 28, people in Ho Chi Minh City flocked to Mien Tay bus station and gateways to return to their hometowns for the September 2nd holiday, causing traffic to be crowded, especially the Tan Son Nhat area was quite clear.

In the afternoon of August 28, the gateway areas of Ho Chi Minh City and Mien Tay bus station recorded a high increase in vehicles as people began to move back to their hometowns or travel during the 5-day National Day holiday.

Recorded from more than 5 pm on the same day, a bustling atmosphere enveloped Mien Tay bus station and the roads leading to the station. Inside the station, rows of waiting rooms were crowded with passengers, most of whom had bought tickets in advance and waited for boarding time.

Ms. My Le (going to Ca Mau) shared that she took advantage of going to the station early to get tickets because she was afraid of traffic jams due to the long holiday this year.

On this occasion, Mien Tay bus station forecasts that the number of passengers going to and from provinces and cities will reach 278,700 (an increase of more than 1.01% compared to the same period in 2025) and the number of vehicles will be nearly 12,500 trips (an increase of 1%). The peak day is expected to be August 29 (Saturday) with 70,000 passengers and 2,350 departures. On the second day of the holiday, the number of passengers passing through the station is forecast to be about 52,000 with nearly 1,900 trips.

On the gateway roads, the traffic situation is different between directions. At the western gateway, the section of National Highway 1 through Tan Nhut commune recorded a large number of vehicles, vehicles congested in a row, moving little by little.

Mr. Nguyen Hong An (35 years old, from Dong Thap) said that although he took advantage of going early, when reaching National Highway 1, vehicles became more crowded, so movement was constantly interrupted.

Recorded at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, in the Mai Chi Tho street area towards An Phu intersection, the number of vehicles pouring in is very large, at times the stream of vehicles stopping at red lights stretches for kilometers.

However, in the area of branch N3, N4 just opened to traffic and An Phu intersection, vehicles heading towards the HCMC - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway were crowded but no congestion occurred, the opposite direction was quite clear.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dong (resident of Gia Dinh ward) moving to Vung Tau commented that the direction up the highway is less congested partly thanks to him taking advantage of going early.

At Tan Son Nhat International Airport, recorded on August 28, there are expected 756 flights, serving 121,089 passengers. Of which, 380 departing flights with 64,186 passengers and 376 arriving flights with 56,903 passengers. The number of domestic passengers traveling alone reached 34,887 people, while international passengers traveling were 29,299 people.

Although the number of flights and passenger pressure increased, the traffic situation at the airport gateway still maintained a smooth state, without congestion thanks to the strengthened functional forces being fully deployed to regulate.

This smoothness is thanks to the implementation of a new traffic diversion plan: opening the road from terminal T2 to terminal T1, helping vehicles quickly escape to Truong Son and Pham Van Dong streets, avoiding bottlenecks at the red light intersection right in the toll station area of terminal T2.
