On November 9, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province said that it had proposed to the Ministry of Transport to invest in upgrading and renovating weak and seriously degraded traffic bridges on National Highway 19, the section passing through the province.
Through review, there are currently 5 weak bridges with narrower gauge than the road on National Highway 19 through Binh Dinh province, including: Cau Trang II (Km24+650), Nuoc Xanh (Km36+546), Dong Xiem (Km39+482), Lo Gom (Km52+887) and Vuon Xoai (Km57+593). These bridges were built in 1975, are seriously degraded, and pose a high risk of traffic safety.
In particular, Lo Gom Bridge and Vuon Xoai Bridge are carrying out investment procedures to implement construction under the project of Improving weak bridges and connecting bridges on national highways (phase II) invested by Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Transport).
The remaining Trang II Bridge, Nuoc Xanh Bridge and Dong Xiem Bridge have not been included in the construction investment plan.
According to the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, in 2023, Road Management Area III has proposed that Project Management Board 2 add the above 5 bridges to the Project on Renovating Weak Bridges and Connecting Bridges on National Highways (Phase II) and sent a document to the Vietnam Road Administration regarding investment in expanding bridges on National Highway 19 in Binh Dinh and Gia Lai provinces. However, up to now, Trang II Bridge, Nuoc Xanh Bridge and Dong Xiem Bridge have not been considered for investment and construction.
Therefore, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province requested the Ministry of Transport to soon have a plan to invest in upgrading and renovating 3 bridges on National Highway 19 in Binh Dinh province (Trang II Bridge, Nuoc Xanh Bridge and Dong Xiem Bridge), to synchronize the scale with the project to Enhance Traffic Connectivity in the Central Highlands region that is being implemented and ensure safe operation.
