On November 15, 2024, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) to organize the Launching Ceremony of the "Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2024".
The theme of the launch ceremony was “Ensuring social security, empowering and creating opportunities for women and girls to achieve gender equality and eliminate violence against women and girls”.
According to the Global Gender Gap Report 2024 published by the World Economic Forum, Vietnam's gender equality ranking in 2024 ranked 72nd out of 146 countries, up 11 places compared to 2022.
Launching the ceremony, Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung emphasized: With the theme "Ensuring social security, increasing power and creating opportunities for women and girls to achieve gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence", this year's action month emphasizes the importance of measures to maintain a stable, fair, democratic society, ensuring social security and security, safety for people, especially women and girls.
Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, Deputy Minister of Public Security, stated that in recent years, the Ministry of Public Security has consistently prioritized and guided police forces at all levels to actively collaborate with relevant units, ministries, agencies, and organizations. This effort aims to promptly identify, intervene, and address cases of gender-based violence, illegal marriage brokering, and to protect victims. The ministry has also focused on preventing child abuse and human trafficking crimes while facilitating the development and implementation of inter-sectoral coordination agreements related to gender-based violence prevention.
To continue promoting the spirit of gender equality, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security strongly responded and committed to focusing on performing its tasks well.
In particular, Party committees and police leaders at all levels pay attention to leading and directing the organization of activities in response to the Action Month. Promote propaganda, dissemination and education of laws on gender equality and prevention and response to gender-based violence.
Focus on developing a Plan to implement the National Action Program on Women, Peace and Security for the 2024-2030 period; continue to improve policies and regimes to promote participation and facilitate the development and contribution of women in the People's Public Security.
