On the morning of May 7, in Phu Thuy ward, the Border Guard Command (BĐBP) of Lam Dong province organized a drill to respond to incidents and accidents at sea in 2026.
The exercise aims to improve command, coordination and handling capabilities for emergencies, natural disasters, maritime accidents, especially oil spills in the process of exploiting and transporting gasoline and oil at sea.

The hypothetical situation is that a cargo ship transporting fuel collided with a fisherman's fishing boat due to bad weather and limited visibility.
The collision caused the oil storage tank to be punctured, oil spilled into the sea, threatening aquaculture areas and coastal areas.
Immediately after receiving the emergency signal, the Border Guard force of Lam Dong province mobilized specialized ships, canoes, rescue boats and officers and soldiers to approach the scene to rescue, fight the fire and ensure safety in the incident area.

The forces were divided into many prongs, both controlling the fire on the ship with water cannons, and searching for and rescuing fishermen and crew members drifting at sea.
After a few minutes of deployment, all victims were taken to safe rescue vehicles. Injured cases were given first aid on the spot and transferred ashore for further treatment.

In parallel with that, an oil spill response plan is also being implemented to limit marine environmental pollution, combining warning, regulating waterway traffic and protecting the scene.
The exercise took place close to reality, handling arising situations flexibly, ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles.

Through the exercise, the Border Guard Command of Lam Dong province inspected and evaluated the coordination, command, communication and mobilization of vehicles and equipment to handle incidents of participating forces; and at the same time learned from experience and completed plans to respond to oil spills and rescue at sea.
The exercise also affirmed the core role of the Border Guard force in protecting the marine environment, ensuring safety for people and maintaining sovereignty and security of sea and island borders.
